TOKOH–TOKOH DALAM SATUA I UBUH; DIPANDANG DARI SUDUT ETIKA BERBICARA
Abstract
Satua I Ubuh is Balinese story which is a literature work of Bali Purwa. Satua is very interesting to be observed. Nowadays, children interest toward satua is decreasing. Besides, the speaking skill of children in using Balinese has to be fixed. There were many rules and norms of politeness that have been diverged by the children in speaking. Related to the explanation above, this research entitled “The Roles of Satua I Ubuh; Seen from the Point of View of Speaking Ethics.” Each satua is supported by several roles which have different social status. Related to the problem appeared is how the speaking Ethics of each role in satua I Ubuh. This research was done to know the speaking Ethics of each role who support that satua. The problem is researched by using Speaking Ethnography theory which is referring to Dell Hymes theory and Anggah-Ungguhing Basa Bali. The finding gained by using library study method. Then the data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis method, and it is presented by using informal method. After doing the observation, it was found that satua was supported by several roles namely: grandfather, I Ubuh, genie (Gede Urub), and king. Based on the result of data analysis, found that the speaking Ethics of one role to another role have already appropriated with the politeness of speaking norms in Balinese which refer to Anggah- ungguhing Basa Bali. The selection of Balinese variety, such as: Ragam Basa Bali (BBM), Basa Bali Andap (BBAnd), and /or Basa Bali Kasar (BBK) that is used by each role based on the social status, and the situation of conversation done. Furthermore, the implementation of the speaking Ethnography theory, especially referring to the elements of speaking which is stated by Dell Hymes has been very good.
