PERUBAHAN BENTUK, FUNGSI DAN STRUKTUR JINENG DALAM ARSITEKTUR TRADISIONAL BALI

Abstract

Bali as one of the famous tourism destinations with natural beauty beside cultural diversity and customs. Bali has many types of traditional buildings as a form of culture and the civilization. One of the traditional buildings that still survive nowadays is Jineng. Jineng shows the social status of the owner. Beside as a storage place (barn) for rice and other agriculture products, Jineng also has a function as a place for religious activities and traditional activities. The development of tourism and the influence of modernization have an impact on changing the form, function and meaning of Jineng. This study aims to find out how changes in the form of jineng, function and meaning of jineng now and look for the causes of these changes. The method used is a qualitative description method that has been started by interviews and focus group discussion (FGD) activities. The research object is located in four regencies / cities in Bali, such as Denpasar City, Tabanan Regency, Badung Regency and Gianyar Regency. From the results it was found that the cause of the change in the function of the jineng in the four research locations was due to the development of tourism, modernization, occupations, and form of the Jineng. Changes in the function of jineng in 4 (four) districts are jineng as a villa, jineng as a living room, jineng as a tourist service, jineng as a place to store ceremonial equipment, and jineng as a guest room. In general, the changes that happen are changes in the function of the building with the sacred meaning to profane meaning.
