WIKIPEDIA BAHASA BALI SEBAGAI UPAYA MELESTARIKAN DAN PEMERTAHANAN BAHASA DAN BUDAYA BALI

Abstract

Balinese is a language used by the Balinese people. As the development of the era, the use and the knowledge of Balinese language and culture are declining. Moreover, some terms in Balinese language and culture are rarely used and start to be forgotten, so that the current generations do not know those terms. Following up on these problems, the government of Bali with the visions and missions of Nangun Sat Kerti Loka Bali emphasizes one of its visions namely, preserving Balinese Language and Culture in the 4.0 revolutionary era. Balinese Wikipedia is one of the efforts to preserve Balinese Language and Culture in the 4.0 revolutionary era. Balinese Wikipedia is a breakthrough made by students, language experts and academies so that Balinese language has the same degree as Indonesian, English, and other languages. The theory used in this study was the Sociolinguistic theory, which was the preservation of a language. Data collection methods were done by using the literature method and interview method with note taking technique. The data analysis method used was the match method. The match method is the determining device being outside, detached, and not part of the language (langue) concerned (Sudaryanto, 1993). The results showed that Balinese Wikipedia was an effort to maintain the use of Balinese Language and Culture. It was because Balinese Wikipedia did not only contain knowledge about Balinese Language and Culture, but also general people might write and share knowledge about Balinese Language and Culture. Balinese Wikipedia were able to equalize the scale of Balinese with English and other foreign languages.
